In a world that constantly requires adaptability, human identity is not monotonous – it is layered. We all have different faces depending on the surroundings, conditions and emotional needs. This blog examines psychological depth behind many of our individuals and how perceptions, expectations and existence existence are of form, as we look – private, private and privacy.

🧠 The Public, Private, and Secret Selves

A human seems to have different variations to show himself. He tends to change his personality according to the circumstances and the environment they choose to be in. It is a matter of coincidence—they seem to care about what others think of them, as opposed to what they think about others.

There seems to be an incessant need to apply what it really means to be known. A person loves the version of themselves to be valid from our perspective to others. There is a Japanese quote that says:

“People have three faces: one you show to the world, the second face you show to your family and close friends, and the third face you never show anyone.”

It means we have an image in public that is not known by strangers, but often known to people close to them. Yet, the second face, of what you disclose to your family and friends, wouldn’t be known to strangers at times. The secretive persona—the third face—is only known to you or someone who is really close to you. Oftentimes, you wouldn’t even imagine that this could be you.

👁️ Perception, Expectations, and Self-Preservation

It is a strange reality we live in. The assessment needs to collect minute details of one another to actually go with the flow. Instead, we have assumptions about other humans, which is unflattering.

Sometimes, you need to completely face the repercussions of the actions, where you never want to get blamed. There seems to be a brutal force to reckon with. A situation where my perception of others drastically changed was when I needed someone during my horrible times. Nobody came to save me, and thus my life started crumbling.

I could have gone to extreme measures to curb the situation. Instead, I took a step back, rethinking what can be done in the future rather than thinking about what could have been done.

It is the first time you have to take care of the essential qualities that are required to fit in. It is, at times, celebrated. However, you need to rethink the times the situation could have been drastically different.

This leads to overthinking. People forget about the expectations we put on others, which results in a wrong reputation. The perception of people thinking negatively about you—that leads to gossip—cannot be dealt with easily. It needs to be confirmed by you: the place you are coming from.

Frequently, the person has placed huge expectations on you, but you forget that the situation you are coming from is the place you want to be known for.

🧳 Real-World Example: Managing Expectations

Example: Your boss has way too many expectations from you. It is because you have instilled the same experience and expectations that you increased, to be considered for the role.

But hey, you are just a person with thoughts and ideas—you need to acknowledge it. If you fail to deliver the result, people will look down upon you. You would face a reality check, thinking the answer you gave was sheer luck.

Thus, the idea of you is not only based on yourself, family, and friends. It could also be bestowed upon by the people whom you wouldn’t even imagine would have an opinion about you.

🎯 Conclusion

Ultimately, know-how the numerous variations of ourselves isn’t a flaw—it’s a part of being human. By acknowledging our moving roles and inner conflicts, we grow in self-attention and resilience. The journey via social mask, self-perception, and private expectations isn’t always approximately finding one constant identity, but about embracing the complexity that defines us all.
